Black Ballad: Don't Lose Faith In Us: How Grassroots Activism Can Hold The Government To Account

It is no surprise that black women have lost faith in the government, we can look to examples from the past two weeks to see why. The recent appointments to the women's equality select committee lacks diversity or representation of our community. Similarly, the leaked document from within the labour party demonstrated what we already knew, black women within the party being bullied and discriminated against. And don’t get me started on the appointment of Trevor Phillips to lead the enquiry on the impact of COVID-19 to BAME communities, the same man who compared Grenfell to the "Tower of Babel”. Amongst everything else in the world, we are constantly reminded that the current make-up of political parties are not for us!
