Our Values
We are here to stay. We are here to win:
We have a clear strategy, mission, vision and desire and we will succeed. The importance of acknowledging racism is now on the agenda - and we plan to keep it there. We are here to stay because we know and are proud of the good our sector does and that it seeks to change society for the better. That is why we are passionate about making it stronger and keeping its work rooted in social justice.
We are joyful. We are not virtuous:
Our campaign is about fighting for POC in the charity sector and amplifying their voices both workers and service users. We acknowledge we do not all start from the same place of knowledge and understanding, but are here to achieve the same thing. We have a zero tolerance policy for virtue signaling.
We create brave spaces. Not safe spaces:
Our first priority is to win, but we want to do so by elevating as many voices and experiences as we can. We are not perfect. We will endeavour to be better, together.
We recognise that we bring our own experiences into spaces, and this is reflective of the world and structures we live in.
To keep spaces brave our work is done through an intersectional lens and with humility.
Invitation to Brave Space
By Micky ScottBey Jones
Together we will create brave space
Because there is no such thing as a “safe space”
We exist in the real world
We all carry scars and we have all caused wounds.
In this space
We seek to turn down the volume of the outside world,
We amplify voices that fight to be heard elsewhere,
We call each other to more truth and love
We have the right to start somewhere and continue to grow.
We have the responsibility to examine what we think we know.
We will not be perfect.
This space will not be perfect.
It will not always be what we wish it to be
But
It will be our brave space together,
and
We will work on it side by side.
